The ripple of glossy oil paint on canvas, the infinite hues of colour on paper, the sheen of glaze on pottery, the texture of reeds in a basket. These are the pleasures of having a client’s piece of art or craft in the studio. My objective is to photograph these to faithfully capture the colours and shapes, and more importantly to work with the maker to convey their vision to the viewer. Integral to the process is working with clients to discover what makes their art or craft unique.

I am based on Salt Spring Island and have made documenting fine art and table-top product photography a speciality. My certificate of Commercial Photography was earned over 30 years ago and I’ve been giving my clients the best images possible ever since. I work in a fully equipped 700 sq ft studio, using a variety of light modifiers and professional monolight strobes that allow full control over the direction, quality, quantity, and colour of the light. I shoot with an industry leading medium format camera and lenses to create the digital files required for my clients.

My clients’ needs are diverse, and I enjoy meeting their unique challenges. Many of my clients are award winning artists and I believe that the photos used in their submissions have helped at least a little bit.
